Bishop’s Committee Notes

Fr. Jeff reported the average attendance in August and September was 96 and we averaged 102 for September and October.  We are averaging about 6 new people per month.  Church crowding was discussed.  Fr. Jeff is considering a 3rd service or augmenting the present service space.

Larry Brown, Jr. Warden reported on plans for the proposed children’s playground.  The area needs to comply with safety standards which may be costly.  More discussion and investigation is needed.   A portable keyboard will be purchased be used in choir practice as a replacement for the upright piano.

A treasurer’s report was submitted in George Donaldson’s absence detailing the monthly and year to date profit and loss figures.  Also included were the latest investment figures.

Pat Craghead reported that Nancy Guthrie prepared a sampling of the food which will be served for the Christmas Tree Festival Tea.  The Tea has been sold out however; tickets for the Wassail Party and the Wednesday Flower arranging and Soup Supper are still available.

Ann Dahlberg reported on preparations for the Stewardship Dinner to be held on Saturday, October 27th.  Hedi Wheatley will be preparing most of the food for that event.  There will be one service (10 o’clock) held on Stewardship Sunday, October 28th.

Musical instruments were purchased from the African Crafts and will be used by the choir.  A children’s music program was discussed as well as the upcoming Christmas play which will be directed by Becky Newmeyer.

The new sign will be installed prior to the Christmas Tree Festival.

Text Box: Hello,

My name is Garand Courtney, Hal and Eleanor Courtney's grandson in Iraq. I Just wanted to take a minute to thank you and your congregation for sending goodies to us poor souls trapped here in the desert. I want to apologies for taking so long to get back to you, but getting free time lately seems to be a luxury that is rarely afforded. Me and some friends opened the packages and passed the contents out in the MWR (short for Morale, Welfare and Recreation) building, after "liberating" the fudge of course. That way everyone was able to get a little something out of it, the cookies and slim jims always being popular. Thank you so much for thinking of us and taking time to send
care packages to Iraq, I and everyone here certainly appreciates it. Here's Wishing You and your church the best new year, its already a good new year for me because i get out of Iraq in June.

God Bless

Sincerely,
SPC Garand Courtney
